Sonus Networks, Inc.

ASX Advantages

Broad range of Class 5 features: Field tested and proven reliable by major ISPs, cable MSOs and wireless and wireline carriers, the ASX is trusted to deliver a rich set of call features to consumers, small-offices/home offices and small businesses over any access network technology.

Integrated with third-party application servers: ASX is compatible with specialty servers to provide line-side services, such as intelligent call-center, unified messaging and IP voicemail services.

Robust interoperability: ASX interfaces with the packet network using 100 Base-T Ethernet and supports MGCP, SIP and the cable standard NCS to control a wide variety of access devices. For PSTN interconnection, the ASX seamlessly interoperates with Sonus Networks' GSX9000™ and GSX4000™ Open Services Switches and the SGX™ SS7 Gateway to extend robust SS7/C7 signaling support to the network edge. This includes TCAP support and international ISUP variants for access to worldwide circuit-based networks and services.

Seamless scalability: ASX delivers advanced scalability, from entry-level systems of less than 10,000 lines to networks supporting up to 100,000 lines-per-node. As the network grows, multiple ASX feature servers can share a single subscriber database for feature transparency, as well as, simplified upgrades and management.

Full-featured provisioning: Together with the Sonus Insight™ Management System, the ASX can be provisioned to support three different subscriber levels: enterprise, business group and individual subscriber. With customizable interfaces for feature selection and call control, this flexible management system uses lightweight protocols to facilitate system administration from any location worldwide.

OSS/billing integration: With the Sonus Insight Management System, the ASX integrates with existing back-office systems for provisioning, management and billing without having to manage multiple independent systems.

Superior reliability: Like all Sonus products, the ASX is designed for 99.999% uptime, providing superior reliability. The ASX is typically deployed redundantly on industry-standard, NEBS-compliant computing platforms in a hot-standby mode, ensuring no loss of active calls upon switchover. The ASX also supports live software upgrades, allowing new features to be added without taking systems out of service.
