Session Control Products

Session Control products are at the core of the Sonus IP Multimedia Subsystem (IMS) network. Based on the industry standard Session Initiation Protocol (SIP), they control IP-voice and multimedia sessions to ensure that services are delivered (e.g., route calls between users and between users and application servers).

Sonus Session Control products provide the carrier-class functionality, performance and reliability required for voice and multimedia networks. Proven with carriers worldwide, the Session Control product family includes:

Sonus Networks HSX™ Home Subscriber Server (HSS): As the central database of subscriber information, the HSX includes subscriber profiles and their current status in the network. Subscriber database functionality is currently available in the Sonus PSX, and full IMS HSS functionality will be available for IMS deployment.

Session control functionality currently exists in the Sonus ASX, and full IMS S-CSCF functionality will be available in a separate product, the Sonus SRX Server, for IMS deployment.

Sonus Networks PSX™ Breakout Gateway Control Function (BGCF): As the industry’s most comprehensive routing server, the PSX BGCF determines the best route for sessions between an IMS network and other networks (e.g., IP-voice and TDM networks).
