Line-Side Access Application

Line-side access refers to any means of providing telephony access to and from subscribers. In next generation networks, line-side access can be achieved over broadband technologies, such as DSL, cable, fiber to the home/building and fixed wireless, as well as, traditional TDM lines using Line Access Gateways (LAGs). Traditional access equipment supporting only narrowband connections to homes and businesses is aging, expensive to operate and is not always compatible with broadband technologies. The benefits of broadband include lower capital and operational expenses, as well as, the ability to support advanced, high-margin services.

This provides feature transparency over many transport technologies, including analog lines, Ethernet, DSL, cable or fixed wireless infrastructure, with minimal complexity and cost.
