Line-Side Access Application
Line-side access refers to any means of providing telephony access to and from subscribers. In next generation networks, line-side access can be achieved over broadband technologies, such as DSL, cable, fiber to the home/building and fixed wireless, as well as, traditional TDM lines using Line Access Gateways (LAGs). Traditional access equipment supporting only narrowband connections to homes and businesses is aging, expensive to operate and is not always compatible with broadband technologies. The benefits of broadband include lower capital and operational expenses, as well as, the ability to support advanced, high-margin services.

As broadband access continues to grow, Sonus Networks remains the industry leader by providing an end-to-end architecture with the reliability, scalability, quality and features to meet carrier-class requirements. With the Sonus IP Multimedia Subsystem (IMS) architecture, you can deliver access services over various methods, with the flexibility to expand into other applications, such as tandem switching, long distance or packet peering. Additionally, services can be shared across markets and users, increasing revenue and cost effectiveness.
The Sonus IMS architecture supports interworking between various protocols, such as MGCP, SIP, SIP-T, and H.323, to a variety of Integrated Access Devices (IADs), gateways, next generation Digital Loop Carriers (DLCs) and IP endpoints, all on the same platform. This provides feature transparency over many transport technologies, including analog lines, Ethernet, DSL, cable or fixed wireless infrastructure, with minimal complexity and cost. This flexibility ensures you can deploy one solution, for both access and core networks, that meet all of your business plans.
